Start with *147# for Cell C's documented self-service menu. It is used for supported account tasks and Emergency Recharge. Cell C also publishes the Airtime Share string shown below. Read the live menu labels rather than relying on an old sequence of option numbers.
The provider you buy service from matters. A phone's roaming indication or a host-network association does not turn the account into another operator's retail product. Use Cell C instructions for a Cell C service and ask a virtual operator for its own account route.
Cell C code reference
Operator documents checked 1 November 2026. No live handset test is claimed. A direct own-number command and a universal subscription-cancellation command were not confirmed; the table supplies official fallbacks.

Use the account menu for the intended task
Open *147# on the intended SIM and read the current choices. A code can be correct while the numbered menu has changed. Choose the label matching the task and stop if the next screen describes a purchase or account change you did not intend.
For balance questions, distinguish airtime from data and promotional wallets. Read validity and usage restrictions. A large balance in one wallet does not establish that all websites, calls or applications can use it. The Cell C app guidance provides an authenticated alternative for an already linked service.
Emergency Recharge and Auto TopUp
Cell C's Emergency Recharge page identifies the menu route and management of Auto TopUp. These are repayable facilities, not free credit. Read the offer's denomination, fee, recovery and automatic-enrolment settings before accepting.
A once-off request and automatic recharge have different effects on later usage. If you only need help for one call or session, check which option you selected. Keep the confirmation and review the recovery when you next recharge. Ask support to explain an outstanding amount rather than repeatedly borrowing to make the balance appear larger.
If the offer is lower than expected or unavailable, the service's eligibility rules control the result. This article does not determine your limit and does not promise a way around it.
Airtime Share: use the whole recipient number
Cell C's Airtime Share instructions publish *147*333*recipient*amount#. Replace the placeholders with the intended recipient and amount. Read the confirmation before approving. This is a value-transfer action, not a number lookup.
Check that both services qualify and that the value comes from an eligible wallet. A similar-looking number can send value to the wrong recipient. Use an independently confirmed number and do not expect a transfer to prove who owns the line.
Buying a new product for someone through a reseller is separate from Airtime Share. If that is the task, review the recipient's supported network and the actual product in the purchase flow. The data catalogue guide helps compare eligible allowances.
Own number and PUK assistance
The current support FAQ reviewed here does not establish a direct own-number command. Use a linked app/account, a service record or a trusted-phone call where voice service is available. See the own-number guide for dual-SIM, router and data-only fallbacks.
Cell C's support FAQ documents PUK assistance through the account and USSD menu. Follow the current labels. Do not guess a PUK and do not treat the SIM serial, IMEI and mobile number as interchangeable.
Unexpected content charges and registration questions
Ask the provider to identify active billed services and supply the current cancellation route. Keep the service name, amount and confirmation. Cancellation, a refund dispute and marketing opt-out are distinct requests. Blocking a message sender alone does not establish that the billing arrangement ended.
For escalation, use the unwanted-billing guide. For your own registration details, use the RICA guide and official verification; no public code here searches subscriber identities.
