A shop selling prepaid electricity needs a correct meter check, clear customer price, reliable token delivery and a daily reconciliation process. The customer paying at the counter is not the same event as the supplier issuing a token or the meter accepting it.
Confirm the supply arrangement
Agree whether the supplier supports your retail channel, what prices or authorised fees apply and who handles customer disputes. Confirm the supported meters and areas instead of advertising universal coverage. The meter-support guide explains the existing check.
Separate any approved shop charge from the customer's energy purchase and explain the total before payment. Do not promise a fixed number of units per rand across every municipality. Tariffs, deductions and account conditions can change the vending result.
A controlled counter-sale sequence
- Read back the complete meter number and intended property/customer.
- Confirm supported supply and the purchase amount.
- Show the total customer charge and any separately agreed fee.
- Record payment and an internal sale reference.
- Submit the supplier order once and retain its reference.
- Check the completed vending result before calling the sale successful.
- Provide the full receipt/token sequence privately and keep a recoverable record.
A nickname such as “home” is not enough to identify a meter. A saved beneficiary can become wrong after a move or replacement. Confirm the full number for the specific sale rather than relying on the last successful purchase.
If payment was taken but no token appears
Check the existing supplier reference and transaction status before resubmitting. Keep customer money and supplier outcome linked. If the result is pending, record who owns the follow-up and what the customer has been told.
For a completed token with a missing message, recover or resend the existing result. That is different from buying again. The recovery hub includes seller and bank routes, while the rejection guide handles a token that was received but not accepted.
Wrong meter and refund questions
Preserve the original number, payment and vending result and ask the issuer about the applicable process. Do not promise a refund, cancellation or token conversion before the responsible supplier confirms what can be done. A token is tied to its issued meter and cannot be made correct by changing a receipt label.
If a meter was replaced or key-change tokens were issued, preserve the full sequence and refer the acceptance issue to the utility/administrator. Do not publish or use generic tamper-reset or commissioning codes as a counter-service shortcut.
Reconcile the day's sales
Match customer receipts with supplier debits and completed token records. Separate refunds, reversals, failed transactions and unresolved orders. Reconcile opening wallet plus funding and adjustments less supplier charges to the closing wallet.
Keep staff access appropriate to the role and avoid shared uncontrolled passwords. Token records should be retrievable for the customer through an authorised process, not stored in a public chat. The business hub explains the wider model and record-keeping choices.
Do not confuse paid sales with FBE approval
A household's Free Basic Electricity depends on municipal eligibility and supplier configuration. A shop may participate in supported collection arrangements, but an ordinary sale does not approve a household. Use the FBE hub and collection guide for that distinction.
The tariff calculator is a budgeting estimate for named tariffs, not a binding token quote. The final vending receipt records the actual transaction.
Electricity-selling questions
Can I guarantee units before checking the account?
No universal units-per-rand promise is made. Confirm the supplier's current vending information and applicable deductions.
Does SIMcloud's affiliate commission automatically cover electricity?
The current published affiliate product clause names airtime, data and bulk SMS. Agree the intended electricity commercial model separately.
